Major Margaret Houlihan aka Maggie was the perfect girl dalmatian. She could do a Lana Turner-type pose for a camera . . . she nodded her head in confirmation when someone called her beautiful. But beind those gorgeous eyes, she was a rough-and-tumble dalmatian. She dug up the azaleas in the backyard (twice!). She pulled the elbow curve from the downspout of the gutter too many times to count. She ran and jumped for the lowest branch on the pine tree and held on for a swing. But she transformed herself when she walked in the door.

My first dalmatian. I got Potter (yes, a M*A*S*H name) my first week of graduate school at Ohio State. I also got a red convertible that week. Life was good. Potter got me through two graduate degrees, a divorce, and two moves.
Potter was particularly handsome. Some holidays–he got more mail than I did!

My Gino Liking the View in San Mateo, CA 2003
Some fun things about my Gino: He loved to “stow away” in all kinds of bags. He loved walking on a leash and even more he loved going to PetSmart and literally strutting up and down the aisles. He’d sit like a King holding Court & allow people to stop and admire him. Dogs would swerve to avoid him~ although he never had to hiss, growl or take a defensive posture. He regally sat and let them skulk away. He was a very special guy.
Nickname: Pig-Pig
A special word tonight on behalf of my friend, Auna whose yellow lab, Eddie recently moved on to the “Big Park” as I call it. Eddie was kind, gentle, happy and so wonderfully sweet~ I used to doggie sit him~ never a bother and always welcome.
Look for Mycroft and Enjoy the Squirrels!
